Fjallraven has been at the forefront of developing amazing gear and clothing since it’s inception in 1960. Fjallraven has been and continues to be a leader in building long lasting and durable outdoor gear. From G1000 fabric and Greenland wax to the legendary Kanken and Numbers Collection Fjallraven is a leader.
Fjallraven founder Ake Nordin is a man who likes to solve problems and after being unable to get comfortable in a bivouak while out in Norther Sweden he pledged that no one should have to be cold while enjoying the great outdoors and this of course brought the legedary Fjallraven Expedition Down Jacket to life!
The Concept was simple, build two down jackets in one! Tests found that putting tow layers of down, aptly called double down found that heat would be maintained more efficiently and cold wind would not be able to push it’s way through the seems. The roomy hood was filled with sythetic fill to ensure that it would maintain its shape year over year.
Originally launched in 1974, the Expedition Down jacket is still an intricate part of Fjallraven’s winter collection. This jacket was deemed to be so unique that a court of appeal in Sweden deemed this piece to be protected under copyright and to be classified as a work of art. Pretty impressive for a down jacket!
As with all Fjallraven Down Jacket’s, the Expedition Down Jacket is made with Fjallraven’s Award Winning Ethically Sourced Premium Goose Down and as part of Fjallraven’s commitment to the environment this jacket is made without the use of Fluorocarbons.

This collection was based off a collection of designs that are both classic and timeless. Fjallraven chose to use the highest quality materials to make these amazing bags even developing a new version of their legendary G1000 fabric. G1000HD along with high quality leather accents ensure that your Numbers bag will be your faithful companion for years to come! Find the Fjallraven Numbers backpacks and bags in our webstore!
As a follow-up for the Fall/Winter 2012 collection Fjallraven has taken the Numbers concept to the next level with a full collection of clothing built under the sustainability concept of the Numbers bags and backpacks. Fjallraven Numbers clothing will be mostly produced in European countries going back to old world production techniques producing the highest quality and most sustainable garments to date. The Numbers clothing collection is focused around the use of their highly durable G1000HD material, the G1000Eco material which is produced with a blend of Organic Cotton and Recycled Polyester, reclaimed leather pieces and also incorporating pieces that are easily replaceable if they wear out (zippers, toggles etc). The Numbers clothing are conceptualized as legacy pieces where they are designed to last for many years even being passed on from generation to generation! A truly sustainable product is one that lasts for many years, and with Fjallraven Numbers, you will have a faithful companion for many years to come.
Fjallraven Numbers clothing will be arriving for the 2012 fall/winter season!
Fjallraven is committed to being environmentally responsible. By producing long lasting, durable products they have already been a leader in the environmental movement because a truly sustainable product is one that does not need to be replaced. Fjallraven uses a lot of natural fibers including many garments being produced with Organic Cotton. Their legendary G1000 fabric is made in an Eco version by blending Organic Cotton with Recycled Polyester. The G1000 Eco can be found in their award winning Keb Trouser as seen in this video!
Fjallraven also is a leader when it comes to environmental considerations of their waterproof clothing. All of these pieces are produced without Fluorocarbons. Fluorocarbons are typically found in the DWR coating that is found on most waterproof garments. This allows the water to bead off the fabric instead of soaking in. Fluorocarbons are an element that will not break down and has been shown to have ill effects on health and the environment.
As a next step, Fjallraven has developed their Eco-Shell Material. Eco Shell is a fully waterproof and extremely breathable material that is made with recycled polyester, is fully climate compensated to a gold standard for production and transportation, is fully fluorocarbon free and at end of life can be fully recycled. Fjallraven offers a great and ever increasing selection of Eco-Shell jackets and pants that cover both winter and summer and every day outdoor activities!
Fjallraven’s commitment does not stop with their clothing, Fjallraven also fully climate compensates many of their packs including the legendary Kanken Daypack as well as their range of award winning Kajka trekking packs!
